Target group: class 9., age: 16, level: A2+/B1 Students have been learning English for some years. They have already learnt the grammar structures that are covered in this chapter, though they might make mistakes in using them, or avoid using more complex structures. The aim is to make them use these structures properly and consciously, and at the same time provide them with the factual knowledge required. In this chapter students will only get a hint to the subject, with a CLIL approach. The topics can further be discussed later. Why CLIL? • CLIL students become more successful communicators • CLIL promotes language development • CLIL increases knowledge of language • CLIL teaches grammar implicitly With these lesson plans and exercises my aim was to show how the CLIL approach can be applied to civilization topics, how teaching language can be integrated into teaching content.
